Guest entry from Mom & Dad

Jenny

While Japan was not on my travel list, the opportunity to visit while Sara and Jamie were here was not to be passed up on.

Since arriving I have been part of the phenomenal crowd in Tokyo square and I’ve had the opportunity to watch a Geisha dance ceremony in Kyoto. I’ve stood in awe on the grounds of the Todaiji temple in Nara and I have stared at the beauty of Mt. Fuji from the peak of a roller-coaster at Fujikyu Highland. I have shared a picnic supper under a cherry blossom at the base of an illuminated Osaka Castle and I have been introduced to some very gracious people.

While the food is different and a tossed green salad is hard to come by, no matter where you are in Japan you are sure to love the experience….I know I did!

My visit to Japan was GREAT! I am proud to be the dad of Sara & the father-in-law of Jamie. They made the trip the Japan. Their help with navigating the trains & subway was invaluable!

Highlights of the trip:

-- the night out in Tokyo with Shinsuke and Mana (it was great to see Sara’s eyes light up when they met us at the subway).

-- the trip to Mt. Fuji (I will remember the amusement park and the bus tour around the country-side for a long time).

-- the day trip to Hiroshima (boy oh boy….as a kid I remember seeing film clips of the A-bomb, but seeing the city in real life is an experience that is hard to put into words).

Well, for those of you who have already experienced Japan with Sara and Jamie, you know what it is like. For those of you who are planning a visit, I know you will be pleased!
