August long weekend plus a little more

Every August long weekend since high school we have been going up to the “H” cabin. It is the most relaxing place EVER and I love, love, love, love going there. Sitting lakeside with my maple fudge makes the long drive well worth it!!!!!!

This year we made the trek up and the weather was AMAZING! In the past we have gone up and the weather has been ok, then cold, maybe rainy and windy and go figure..the day we leave is always the best. This year was definitely different and when we weren’t partaking in the beer pong tourney, we were swimming in the lake. It was a smaller crowd this year, so there weren’t as many pong games going on, but that was ok because I much preferred chilling out in the lake! I cannot get enough of that place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyhoo…in addition to the great times and gorgeous weather, we arrived at the cabin to hear some SPECTACULAR news. Steve, whose family owns the cabin, had proposed to his long time girlfriend Alex while up there. They had arrived a week before everyone else, so Steve took the opportunity to propose and keep it under wraps so they could enjoy the moment for themselves.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo soooooooooooo happy for these guys. Jame and I have known Steve since high school and his family was kind enough to let Jame live there through college while Jame’s parents moved to the island. He was only supposed to crash there for a few months until he found his own place to live, but that ended up turning into 5 years! We have been friends forever and six years ago Steve was the best man at our wedding. I HEART weddings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I met Alex through our mutual friend, Jo. We hung out at concerts mostly and  I  instantly knew how awesome she was because she shared a love for music and travel. It was at the Vancouver Brewfest that Alex and Steve met for the first time and well, now the rest is history. We’ve been neighbours, travelled with them and continue to have great times with them.

These two are unbelievably perfect for each other.  They have a great sense of humour and always go out of their way to make sure people around them are happy and are having a good time.  They are beautiful people who are even more beautiful when they are together!  * I am sure Steve is thinking of a smart ass remark somewhere right about now ;-)*

So, Steve and Alex…this post is kind of like a congratulatory one. You guys are awesome and we love you. Have a blast planning this wedding and lord knows it is going to be a wicked one!!!!!!!!!!

*I didn’t bring my camera out at all on the long weekend (I know, I know), but I wanted to once I heard the news. Alex needed to get the ring sized, so that is why there aren’t any with the ring on her finger. The ring is beyond gorgeous…good work Steve!!! :)*
