Annual Trip to Sheridan Lake

Every year since high school graduation a bunch of us have headed up to the Hopson cabin at Sheridan Lake (near 100mile house). When we first started going, we would spend hours in the boat and in the lake. However...somehow...a fun little game called "beer pong" was introduced and we never looked back.

If you don't know how beer pong works, let me give you an overview:

* You and your team-mate place 7 cups of beer in front of you on the table

* You play ping-pong as usual, but the goal is to sink the ball into the opposing team's cup. If this happens--that team must chug the full cup of beer.

* If you hit the rim of the cup and the opposing team doesn't return the ball they must drink 1/2 of the cup. If they return the ball, no drinking is necessary.

* The team who downs all 7 beers first loses!

This year we had three tournaments going on--mens/gals/co-ed. Jame and Steve won the men's division and Jame and I (a.k.a. -Duke & Vera) won the co-ed.

Erin and I had some stiff competition in the ladies division. We made it to the final, but if we lost we would have to play another game as each team had to lose twice throughout the tourney. We started off game one with a bang, but Tara and Cheryl made a wicked comeback forcing a game two. Erin and I were not sure we would physically be able to play a second game, so thankfully there was a brief break before we had to start up again.

Once game two started it was getting dark and us girls were in fear of signing the table (if you get sick you must leave your mark on the pong table). Eventually it got darker and darker and the game was taking longer and longer and we were feeling rougher and rougher. Finally and unfortunately, the opposing team had one cup left 1/2 full. It was there serve and they double faulted. As a result and penalty they had to down a 1/2 cup, which was the last one left. Erin and I were ecstatic that a) we won and, b) we didn't sign the table. I think this sequence of pictures will give you a better idea of how we felt!

Gals, thanks for such an entertaining and competitive game! It was definitely a memorable one!

Well, another year at Sheridan Lake has come and gone. We are really going to miss out next year, but we'll be thinking about you all! Perhaps we'll have our own little game of pong with some sake!?!?!?!
