A couple of weekends ago my best friend Jo and I headed to Montreal to visit my other BFF, Cheryl, and her family. Not only were we going to indulge in everything maple and poutine, but we were also going to check out our favorite hottie rocker from the 80’s – Bon Jovi!!
We arrived in Montreal on a Thursday night and we just stayed up most of the night chatting. Cheryl has been living out east for almost 2 years now and every time we see each other it’s like we’ve never been apart. That is the sign of a true friendship :)
We went to bed late that night and a few hours later we woke up to the sound of Emma playing in her crib. I couldn’t WAIT to see her!! She was a little unsure of the two strange women entering her room, but it didn’t take long at all for her to warm up to us.
We spent more of the day playing, running some errands, and chilling out. I had come down with a weird stomach bug, so I was glad we weren’t on the go all day. I managed to whip out my camera to take some pix of Emma during one of her favorite times of the day – bath time.
*This pic brings the BIGGEST smiles to my face!*
*Look at those baby blues – WOW!!!!* Day 1 was so much fun, but we all eventually had to hit the hay at some point. Nightie night Em!
On Saturday we all woke up bright and early and decided to go sightseeing downtown Montreal. Initially, we planned to take the subway down and do some walking tours, but just as we were about to leave it started to rain. We all hopped in the Xterra and did our tours by car. It was great. Montreal is such a neat city. It really, really made me want to go to NYC. Soon enough!
We stopped at Notre Dame and spent quite a bit of time inside the church. Words cannot explain how gorgeous it is!!!! After walking around that area for a bit, we headed to St. Catherine’s street for a lil’ lunch and shopping. It was a bit hard to take it those sites because there was a MASSIVE public services protest going on. I have never seen that many people on one street ever. The pictures don’t even do it justice.
After our day downtown, we headed back home, had a cat nap and headed back into town via the subway. We met some friends that Jamie and I met in Mexico last year at a local pub. It was a blast. Manu and Laura are such awesome people!! It felt like all 5 of us had been friends forever. We ate, drank, chatted and then did some more of the same thing. We left the pub around 9pm to head to the JBJ show. Once we got to the Bell Centre we started asking each other why no one was in the stadium. Once we actually got inside we heard Bon Jovi playing ! It was hilarious! I don’t think the three of us had run so fast in our entire lives!!!!!! An usher told us that he’d been on stage already for almost 30 minutes. We totally planned to miss the opening acts, not JBJ himself! All good though! We had a blast at dinner and JBJ ended up playing for three hours! Wooo hoooooooo!!!!!
**I didn’t bring my DSLR, but I do have a couple of shots on my point and shoot. I will upload those soon :)**
Sunday morning we all got up and drove to a nearby Cabane a Sucre for a traditional Qubecois breaky. The line-up was insanely massive. Pascal and Cheryl had never seen anything like it. We decided to go back home and chill out and go back the next day.
That night we ordered in some poutine. YUMMMMM YUMMMMMM YUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!! After that we had some girly time and watched a chick flick avec copious glasses of wine!
The next morning us gals went back to the Cabane a Sucre. This time we got in without a problem. The breakfast was great, but the desert was even better; deadly in fact. For those of you who don’t know, you could pour maple syrup on dirt and I would love it. I LOVE MAPLE!!!!!!!! ANYTHING MAPLE!!!!!!!!!!! We ate, walked around, had some hot maple on ice, and walked around some more. It was a great time!!!!
*Again, those eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
*Ya, I ate both! Ya, I did!!!*
*How much more real can you get?*
That afternoon we played with Em as much as we could and headed to the airport. I am not going to lie, I had a fantastic time, but it was rough saying goodbye :(
Emma is the happiest kid I think I have ever met in my life. P and Cheryl and phenomenal parents and that is evident in Em’s personality. I miss them all so much and am shedding a tear as a write this. Thanks to Cheryl, Pascal, Em, and Jake for opening their home to us for the weekend and for being the hostesses with the mostesses! And to Jo, you are a wicked travel partner and thank you for Montreal!! I cannot wait for our next trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hugz ladies….I wish there was an ap for that!

It was a great trip!Cheryl, Pascal and Emma truly are a beautiful family. You're absolutely right, Emma is the happiest kid around...you aren't that naturally happy unless surrounded by a happiness and love.
You forgot to mention that Emma couldn't keep her eyes off you!
Great Trip! Thanks C, P and E for having us stay!
