Olympic fever!!!!!!!

So the world will arrive in Vancouver in about 6.5 weeks. It seems like just yesterday we were awarded the host city.

A few weeks ago Jame. MJB and myself headed down to Coal Harbour to snap a picture of the Olympic rings. We arrived at around 4pm just as it got dark and waited and waited for the lights to turn on. For about an hour we waited in the Jeep checking online to see if there was a certain time they went on at. We even called the VANOC line and there weren’t really sure either.

To kill some time we went to Stanley Park to see the Bright Lights display. At about 6pm we went back to the same spot to see if they were on yet.

They weren’t.

I set up my gear and tri-pod anyways and went back inside the truck to warm up.

We were getting kind of bored so decided that if they didn’t come on by 6:30 we would call it a night.

6:30 came and I got out of the truck, took down the tri-pod, took the lens of the camera and put everything in my bag. As soon as I got in the passenger seat and shut the door Jamie shouted “OMG…I just saw a flicker!” As soon as I turned around to see they were on! LOL!!! Go figure!

I got everything out again and walked along the seawall to find a spot. I was FREEEZING, but dang it I waited 2.5 hours for this so I had to get a picture out of it!!!!

On the topic of the Olympics, I have the privilege of attending the OPENING CEREMONIES!! Wooo hooo!!! In Jan. 2009 the owner and director of the school I work at told the teachers that whoever gets the best overall annual evaluation average will win a ticket to the ceremonies and BAM I won. Awesomeness! It is going to be such a phenomenal experience I cannot WAIT!! Hopefully I will get to bring my camera and have a chance to snap some pics of this once in a lifetime event.
