As the last post states, we visited Essaouira. I had an idea in my head of what kind of image I wanted capture and I knew I would know it when I saw it. At the very beginning of our day in Essaouira I saw "the shot". As we walked towards the casbah and into the Medina I noticed this lady sitting in the corner. Her jellaba (long sleeved, ankle length flowing dress) was all black and her charda (facial veil) was very bright in color. She was all alone and no one was nearby. ***Wait...I take that back. One guy that saw us enter the Medina made a bee-line towards us and was trying to get us to be his tour guide. ***I wanted desperately to take her photo, but I knew I couldn't just point and shoot. I started walking away and then stopped. I turned around and took some money out of my pocket. I pulled out my ESL teacher skills and basically she understood what I was getting at since she ripped the money (equivalent to about $5) out of my hand and shoved it under her jellaba. Perfect!!! :-)
Later on in the afternoon we saw the same lady at the market. I watched her take the 200 dirham I gave her out of her jellaba and buy a used bag. She looked pretty happy with her new purchase and that made me feel wonderful!!
Here are some of "the shots" I got. I am curious to know which one you prefer. If you don't like them, allllll gooooooood, but I love #4 and the memory from that day will forever be etched in my mind.

I like 1 and 4. Her eyes are what capture me.
oh I agree with Shelbs, 1 and 4, but of the two it is no. 4 for me - it just kinda speaks to me. I think this is probably the best $5 you spent (photography wise anyway) I love it and expect you to put it in a frame somewhere!
I like #1!! WOW... they are amazing!!
I think that each picture captures something different. Sadness, exhaustion, mystery....they invoke the same feelings for me. It's like I could walk a mile in her shoes- just by looking at one picture. Great shots Sara!
