Let's rewind 18 years ago. I was living in Calgary and my best friend Leslie and I were OBSESSED with the New Kids On The Block (NKOTB). I'm not saying we liked them....I'm saying we were in love with them. She loved Jordan Knight and I loved his brother Jon. We set up a "Boston Fund" and we vowed that we were going to save enough money, go to Boston, find our loves, get married and be sisters!!!! Every week we would purchase the latest version of Teen Beat or Bop and post the posters all over our bedroom walls. I had so many posters that you could not see the color of paint on the walls. We often traded poster because well...she loved Jordan and I loved Jon.
The New Kids was the first concert that we ever saw together. We didn't have very good seats, but back in the day security was so lax we were able to make our way down to the floor. That night we thought we had died and gone to heaven.
Needless to say we never went to Boston, she never married Jordan and I married Jame (a better choice :-) and we grew out of our News Kids phase. So when I found out that NKOTB was together again and coming to Vancouver, Les was the first person I called. She wanted very badly to come out here to see them with me, but she is 7 months pregnant and was leary about flying. Therefore, this post is dedicated to my BFF Leslie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alex, Jo and I got together for the show on Friday night. We started having some bevies beforehand...tee heee... and had a LOAD of fun at the show! Our seats weren't very good, so we decided to move a bit closer. Too bad it wasn't like the olden days when it was so easy to get on to the floor!! It was hilarious to see people our age in their vintage t-shirts etc. Jo had a MASSIVE pin from grade six, so we brought it along and I wore it on my necklace just like Flava Flav ;-) They played all of their hits like "The Right Stuff", "Cover Girl", "Step by Step", "Hangin' Tough" etc. plus some off their new CD. They pulled out all of their dance moves and made fun of themselves a little bit which was awesome!!!
When I was a teenager I loved Jon, but now I am giving Les a run for her money...I like Jordan now:-) Jo, Al and I had a BLAST and carried on to the good ol' Roxy afterwards. On our way there we met a lot of people who also saw the New Kids. We made some new friends! Ha ha ha!
Jo brought along her camera BUT Alex found some pictures on Facebook from a girl she went to highschool with. THEY WERE FRONT ROW!!!!!!!!! J-E-A-L-O-U-S! I am giving her full credit for the majority of photoz in this entry. How could I not post them....look at how close she was!
Ladies.....what a night we had! Definitely the best concert of Nov. 21, 2008! HAHAHAHA....and to Les...I thought about you the whole time! I missed you for sure!!
Ummm...Jordan..HELLO!!
This was freeze framed and this was the point where they were making fun of themselves!
Most shirts were sold out....except the orange ones...poor Jon!!
Don't ask because I don't even know...hahaha!
Thanks for the stellar evening ladies!
