I always chuckle when I hear the word 'hobby' because when I get my ESL students to introduce themselves they always start off with " Hi my name is _____. My favorite hobby is _____ & _______." (note that the sentence is grammatically incorrect and is rarely said properly -- sorry..that's the English teacher in me coming out ). It is very rare for us Canadians to say that. Instead we say "I enjoy _____ OR I am really into ______".
I have always been into photography and love love love taking pictures whenever I can whether it be at the bar with friends or traveling the world alongside Jamie. Usually I just point and shoot if I see something worth taking a snapshot of. I have always wanted to learn the actual science behind photography, but in all honestly never put in the effort to do so.
Some people take courses, while others read their manuals and visit photography forums on the web to learn. I am not the kind of person who can sit, read, and then go. I don't have the attention span to do that. I am the kind of learner who needs to physically be shown how my camera works and then go from there. Thanks to some great people who are helping me with this learning process.
My brother-in-law Eric and my best friends Cheryl and Michelle are three people in my life who are really into photography. While we all have different styles, I have learned soooooo much from all of them. I want to thank each of you for being such an inspiration and I can only dream of being as good as you :)
With photography there is so much to learn and I have but only just begun. Here are some pictures that I have taken recently (with the exception of a few overseas favourites). Thanks for letting me share.
