We're BACK!!!!!!!!
Well, most of you probably know by now that Jamie and I are back in the country. We arrived home on July 30th and made our way to our friend's cabin for the August long weekend (something we have been doing since high-school). We were so excited to surprise everyone and it totally went off without a hitch. This had been something we had decided back in February and it was so hard not to accidentally let the cat out of the bag. A big thank you also goes out to the few people that knew about our plan and didn't slip up :)
After the cabin we made our way to Westbank near Kelowna to hang out with the nephews and fam. It was so nice to relax in the sun again and play with the cutest kiddos in the world:)
After a couple days there we made our way back to Langley and once again began searching for a place to live. Since we knew when we were coming home we started checking out Craigslist etc. in May just to see what was out there. The same day we flew in we had an appointment to view a suite in Kits. Every spare moment we had were spent viewing/looking/calling/emailing different people. Either no one got back to us OR places were snatched up in a matter of minutes after the ad had been posted. We didn't anticipate how frustrating it would be due to the intense competition of places that fit within our budget.
On Saturday morning Jamie looked on Craigslist once again and found a place we both we interested in. We went to view it the same day and instantly we both liked it. It was everything we were looking for in a place and within our price range. It is a tad bit small, but considering what we lived in in Japan...we figure we can make-do.
Soooooooooo....we signed the lease this morning and it feels like a HUGE weight has been lifted off of our shoulders! We've been back in town for almost 2 weeks now and it feels like our time in Japan is already a distant memory. It has been so wonderful to catch up with family and friends and enjoy the great Canadian outdoors (even though the weather hasn't been so "hot"). It feels like we never even left the country in the first place.
The only thing that is kind of weird is the fact that..yes we were gone for a year working overseas...but in our eyes it was more like a 1 year long holiday. Now that we are back home it is back to reality. Time to be responsible adults again! Ha ha ha!
The good thing is that we both don't go back to work until after the September long weekend. We have 3 weeks to get settled etc. We plan to go to Vancouver Island this weekend to visit the folks and then start to move into our new place August 20th. After we get settled in there we hope to catch up with the people we haven't seen yet. Then for the September long weekend are are going to meet my best pal from Calgary and her hubby at the Gorge for the Dave Matthews Band concert. We cannot wait!!!!!!!!
So even though we aren't working, we feel like we've been go go go. It's a good feeling though!! It is definitely great to be home!!!!! :)
Since I am still a bit scatter-brained...I haven't really had the time to post pictures etc. of the things we have done since we have been home. Stay tuned though.....
A lot of people have been asking me what I am going to do with the blog now that we are home. The answer is "I am not quite sure". This blog has a ton of memories attached to it and I'm not sure that if I keep writing random things and post random pictures I will ruin a good thing. Does that make any sense? What do you think???????? Should I wrap up this blog and start something fresh or continue on?????

Your Japanese friends might appreciate your blog from this side of the world.
I have enjoyed your blog from Japan and I think it would be interesting to your Japanese friends to see how you live your life here. What may seem mundane to you is fasinating to others.....as we found out visiting Japan -like pictures of vending machines, toilets, parking lots and gas stations. Great job so far....
Keep it going!!! It's a wonderful way for me to get updated here in Calgary!
XOXO
