About 2 weeks before we came to Japan we saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers play at a small outdoor venue in Washington State! It was absolutely amazing!!!
We were fortunate enough to check out one of our all-time favourite bands AGAIN here in Osaka!!!
One thing I dislike about shows here in Japan is that they start so early...like 7pm. That doesn't really work out for me since I always work until 9pm! I had found out that the Chili's were playing on a Friday...perfect...our day off :)
Now since we are going away in a week...we didn't really want to spend the full amount for a ticket (about $90), so I decided we go to the arena about 30 minutes before the show was to start and we would see if we could get some scalped tickets.
Once we got to the Dome it was pretty hard to see who was selling tickets....it is a very discreet process...way different then what I am used to seeing outside of GM Place! It wasn't until we saw a guy walk with another guy into a covered walkway that we clued into how it all went down.
The guy was willing to sell us 2 for about $60 each, but because of the language barrier we had no idea where the seats were...all he kept saying was "stand...stand...arena". So from that we assumed it was on the floor. While those would be great seats....it was already 7:05 and the show was about to start....by then the floor would have been packed and we would be waaaay at the back! We thought about it and just then some Japanese girl who spoke awesome English asked us if we were looking for tickets. We said we were and she said she had 2 to sell as her friends had to go back to Australia. We asked her where they were and she didn't know. She asked how much we would pay and I said 2 for 9000 yen. DONE!! We got 2 for the price of 1!!
We followed them to the gate to make sure they got in ok and that we weren't getting scammed. Just as we got to our section, the lights went down and out they came!!! They opened with "Can't Stop". :)
Our seats were pretty decent considering we had no idea what to look for! To compare it to GM place we were in the lower bowl at about the blue line. That may be exaggerated on my end because the Osaka Dome I think is way bigger then GM Place...who knows...all I know is that they were pretty decent for the price we paid!
I said this before after we saw the Killers. Japanese people are soooooo tame at concerts! I thought that maybe at a big venue like this they would let loose a bit...but nope. During the songs they went nuts, but in between...no screaming...cheering nothing...a lot of clapping, but nothing verbal. I once again stood out in my section :)
Oh ya...and it was probably the hottest concert I have ever been too!!! If we were dying I cannot imagine how they felt on stage!!
This band is amazing! They are in their mid 40's and rock out as if they were in their 20's. Anthony sounds amazing live and I love, love, love how Flea & John just feed off of each other and jam. I told Jamie that the two if them should make a CD!!!I cannot forget Chad either....he knows how to play a set of drums!!!!
I have included a couple videos. The sound is a bit distorted because the tiny mic on our camera couldn't handle it. It is also pretty dark, but it just gives you an idea of how awesome they were!! Oh ya...you will have to forgive MY voice....I didn't even clue into the fact that the camera would pick up my voice as well! Ooops!!!
