Bright lights, big city--Osaka is HUGE!!

On Friday Jame and I decided to take the train to one of the schools that I will be teaching at. Jame works at the same school 5 days a week. I work at a different school than him….4 days out of the week I work at the same school and 1 day I work at another. We are glad that we aren’t working at the same schools and are really glad that we somehow managed to get the same days off together --Thursdays & Fridays.

Since the train system is so insane I needed to figure out where I was going beforehand. One of my schools is very close by--only about 8 minutes away. After we found the school we walked to the Tennouji ward office because we had to get our alien registration form. It is basically proof that you are permitted to be/work in Japan and we were told we had to get it. I couldn’t believe how hot it was when we were walking there. I can’t really explain how hot it is, but once again we were saved by Pocari Sweat!

After getting all of the legal stuff done we walked back home. It took about 30 minutes or so. My feet were killing and my back and knee hated me for it. We chilled in our apartment for a bit. A couple of hours later we got ready and headed to the train station where we met one of my first ever students that I taught back home in Vancouver. Shuhei and I , along with a few other students I’ve have kept in touch and it was nice to see a familiar face. We took the train to the Namba station (only a couple stops away) where we met my other friends Yumi and Miho. We walked around Dotombori which is one of the most popular places in downtown Osaka. It was there we saw the insanely crowded streets and the flashing lights. It was so awesome!

We went to a restaurant called Tapa for dinner. It was there we were met by my other friend Tomohisa. The restaurant was so beautiful. It was really cool because we were able to electronically order anything we wanted.

Yumi and Miho were so cute because they remembered my picky tastes in food, so they wanted to choose a restaurant that had all kinds of things. We ordered a wide array of delicious food and drinks and later on in the night I decided to try something new. I tried tuna sashimi and even octopus balls. They look like chicken balls, but obviously the inside is different. It wasn’t bad actually. The sauce was very good -- the only thing that got to me a bit was the texture of the leg and tentacles. Other then that, pretty good!! You know what they say “When in Japan….”
