I just want to say that this entry has nothing to do with us going away, but I had such an awesome day, I wanted to share it with you!
So, our friend Pynoo (aka - Todd) visited this past weekend. He decided to kill two birds with one stone and fly to Vancouver for our going away party and an interview with a helicopter company. When Pynoo used to live here, he took his helicopter license and then got a job at Helijet in Vancouver and Richmond. Unfortunately, he was not getting enough flying hours to qualify for a pilot position, so he packed up and moved to Winnipeg with the hopes of reaching his 500 hours a lot quicker.
Anyway.....while visiting his former Helijet peeps he was able to score some guest passes for a chopper flight from Vancouver to Victoria. Unfortunately Jame had to work :( so Pynoo took myself and Pappas (aka- the other Todd).
Initally we were supposed to get on the 9:30am flight, but that quickly booked up. The same thing happened with the 12:30pm flight. We were told that we would get on the 1:30pm flight, so in the meantime we went for some breaky and did some shopping on Robson St.
We were the only people on the helicopter to leave the port as we had to stop at YVR and pick up the remainder of the passengers. As soon as we took off...or went "up" if you will...I felt like a little kid. It was one of the neatest things I have ever experienced.
The total flight time from city to city took about 35 minutes. Since our first flight was delayed, we didn't spend as much time in Victoria as we wanted to because Pynoo had to be back in Vancouver in time to catch his flight back to Winniepg. We had about one hour to spend in Victoria, so we took in the sites and went down to Fisherman's Wharf. That is where we met Sulley the sea lion. Well, that isn't really his name, but I think he looks like a "Sulley".
On the way back home we took a different route and flew at a higher altitude (approx. 6500 ft.). In my opinion that way home was a lot more scenic and it just reiterated the fact that we live in one of the most gorgeous places in the world! It also made me really want a boat!!!!!!!!
Enjoy the pictures----obviously the stills cannot compare to the real thing, but it will give you an idea of what we saw. Thanks for an awesome day Pynoo!
